Just a few weeks after landing a 23lb barbel – the biggest ever reported on British shores, Nathan Buckingham returned to the Lea and landed this fish of 20lb 1oz, plus another of 15lb!

He started the day in the same swim he caught the record from, and, after casting out, he turned around to set up his chair when his rod hammered over. That fish was the fifteen-pounder, and shortly after catching it, Nathan felt there was nothing happening in the swim so decided to move.
In his new spot, Nathan quickly caught a decent chub before upping sticks again and heading to an underfished swim on the edge of a popular area. As happened on his first cast of the day, Nathan dropped his hookbait out, turned around to assemble his chair, and saw his rod buckle over! This specimen was the 20lb 1oz fish – his third over the magic mark from the Lea. As was the case when he caught the British Record, a single small piece of luncheon meat did the trick.
Well done Nathan!
