After baiting a spot with hemp, he fished a garlic pellet hookbaits over the top. Having to regularly recast due to detritus coming downstream, Pedro eventually had a bite. The fish battled hard, trying to reach the sanctuary of a large tree, and as it neared the net, he shouted to his friend Rui in the next swim to come and help. However, Rui was fast asleep! Thankfully, Pedro managed to guide the fish into the waiting net.

Peering into the mesh, he knew it was a large fish but never expected it to beat his previous PB of 19lb 6oz from the Warwickshire Avon. But, once the fish was weighed, he was blown away to see it smash that figure. After taking a few pictures, a speechless Pedro slipped the giant back.
