After hearing rumours of giant pike in a certain wild Irish water, Jamie Ryan set aside six days to focus on the venue and landed this fish of 31lb. It’s his second huge pike this season, after landing a fish of 32lb 4oz from a different venue back in November.
Jamie’s first three days on the venue proved to be challenging, with not a fish landed during that period.
However, his fortunes started to change halfway through his mini-campaign, when a few mid-doubles came to his boat. A homemade shad on a Muira’s Mouse head was producing the takes, and as Jamie’s confidence grew, he knew that he just needed to stick at it before something truly special came to the boat. Not long after, it did, with his efforts rewarded in spectacular fashion with the fish of 31lb exactly.
