During a recent day session on the River Trent, Craig Lander enjoyed the catch of a lifetime, in which he banked this 17lb 10oz fish alongside others of 16lb 10oz, 15lb 4oz and 13lb 4oz
Arriving at first light, Craig cast out a cocoon-shaped boilie of tigernut, hemp and cinnamon flavour, wrapped in matching paste. This was fished alongside a PVA bag filled with groundbait and pellets, and he fired a few freebies over the top. It wasn’t long before his rod slammed over and he hooked a powerful fish that held firm in the powerful flow.
Once in the net, Craig knew it was one of the Trent’s giants, and at 17lb 10oz, it was just that. After taking a few pictures he recast, and within an hour landed the 16lb 10oz fish, which was followed by the fifteen and thirteen-pounders plus a few smaller ones. What a session!
