With temperatures starting to cool, two-times Drennan Cup winner Dai Gribble recently turned to the bream of Staffordshire’s Cop Mere. There aren’t many in the 42-acre water, but on his first session he landed one of the biggest ever caught from the venue in the shape of this 16lb 4oz specimen.
With the venue very weedy at the moment, Dai couldn’t simply rock up and fish, and prior to the session, he raked a spot 50 yards out from a boat, as well as prebaiting a few times with a mixture of groundbait, pellets and corn from Sonubaits. On the night he got the rods out, Dai landed a few tench just before dark which were followed by the specimen bream. It put up a decent scrap under the rod tips, and upon lifting the net out, Dai knew he’d landed one of the venue’s largest residents.
