Matt Adams 3lb 11oz Roach

Finding himself free for a few hours on an overcast but warm day, Matt Adams headed to a stretch of his local chalkstream where he’d been catching plenty of small dace and roach on previous visits… only this time he hit the jackpot by landing this huge 3lb 11oz redfin!

Things started slowly for Matt, with no bites forthcoming on the first half a dozen runs down with his 4xNo4 shouldered stick float, under which he was offering maggot hookbaits. This all changed when he let the float move into a small back eddy and sit there for 10 seconds… after which it slowly slid away. Following a couple of heavy headshakes, the fish rose in the water to give Matt a glimpse of its size, before it powered off upstream.

After a nervy tussle, he netted his new roach pb at the first time of asking, before calling a friend to come down to witness the capture and weighing of the impressive fish.

Well done Matt!
