Peter Dobbs 11lb Tench

Many tench anglers turned their attention to other species weeks ago, as the iconic late spring fish is, in most waters, past peak condition now. However, Peter Dobbs proved that there are still specimens out there to be caught when he landed this fish of exactly 11lb.

He’s targeting a large southern gravel pit that’s best known for big carp, and had a relatively quiet session before this capture, with a single six-pounder to show for his efforts. Fishing a maggot feeder with two red maggots on the hook and two artificial grubs hair rigged, Peter had packed most of his gear away when his rod screamed off. Convinced it was a carp as it splashed, Peter’s heart was in his mouth when he realised he had hooked a big tench.
Well done Peter!
