Leicester And Oxford Through To River Final

Drennan Leicester and Drennan Oxford have both made it through to the Evesham Angling Festival after top-three finishes in last weekend’s Match Fishing Team Championship qualifier.

In an ultra-tight finish, Sensas Black Country won the 14-team event with a 58-point tally. Drennan Leicester were just two points behind on 56 points with Drennan Oxford another two points behind on 54.

Despite some impressive weights of roach coming out in recent days the venue fished below par, not helped by strong winds hampering presentation. It was tight at the top on the individual front as there was nothing to separate Drennan Oxford’s Paul Glenfield and Leicester’s Guy Smith. They drew next to each other on pegs 1 and 2 and both weighed 6lb 2oz of small fish to share the podium.

Paul Glenfield, Matt Herbert, Carl Eland, Steve Townsend and Dave Harpin made up the Drennan Oxford quintet.
