David Meek decided to visit an old spot on a stretch of his local river that he hadn’t fished for a few years and was rewarded with some impressive roach.
Targetting a small slack area just downstream, David loose fed maggots by hand and used a simple trotting setup to slowly ease his bait through the swim. He managed to net himself five roach over the 1lb barrier and topped off the session with a pristine 2lb 2oz fish!
His simple trotting outfit consisted of a Drennan Crystal Avon float on 3lb line down to a size 18 hook to 1.6lb bottom.
