Gwinear Camping & Fishing

gwinear

Gwinear Lakes is a hidden gem in the heart of Cornwall, with two beautifully kept, well-stocked fishing lakes that are open all year round. It is ideally located on the A3075, just a five-minute (3 mile) drive from the centre of Newquay.

The Match & Pleasure Lake was redesigned in 2015, turning it back in to one coarse fishing lake. New large pegs and a path all the way round makes it great for easy access. The lake has varying depths with plenty of features, including an island in the middle with a new bridge across to it.

This lake is suitable for all levels of experience and home to carp up to 16lb, bream, skimmers, tench, perch, rudd and roach. Over 1,000 more carp from 2lb to 6lb have been stocked since Spring 2015, to further enhance the quality of sport on offer.

The Specimen Lake was established in 1988 and over the years has matured into one of the best day ticket venues in Cornwall. In total there are 40 carp between 15lb to 20lb and 33 carp at 20lb+. Eight carp are over 30lb+ with the largest being nearly 40lb. The lake has varying water depths, with lots of attractive features, including two central islands. You can purchase day tickets from the tackle shop from 7.30am in the morning, seven days a week. Night fishing is also available for a maximum of four people per night, booked in advance.

The on-site tackle shop Gwinear Angling is also open seven days a week from 7.30am to 5.30pm and has a large array of tackle in stock.
