Bream And Tench At Marsh Farm

Drennan Bordon’s Shaun Barnett made a successful trip to Marsh Farm Fisheries in Essex last week, winning the match with 53lb of bream and tench.

“I drew peg 7, which was an end peg on the day, and decided to keep things simple as I had not been for a long time,” he explains. “I fed two lines, both at 13 metres. One with worms, caster and groundbait, the other with neat worms and casters.

“I fished a Drennan AS1 0.3g float to 0.13mm Supplex main line and a 0.12mm Double Strength hooklength to a size 16 Milo T213 hook.

“I had a slow start with just two fish in the first hour, then started to get more indications. My peg was getting stronger with odd bream in amongst the tench and fish up to 4lb.

“I ended up with 53lb and 1st in the match. Russ Berryman was 2nd with 46lb and my Drennan Bordon team mate Dave Lewis was 3rd with  36lb. A lovely day and not a carp in sight!”
